一生中的大日子
让我们过一天彼得的生活，这一天将会成为你生命中最重要，最难忘的日子。尽管这天很重要，你身着黑色套装，里面穿着白色的衬衫；但你不能自己选择服装，因为传统就这样要求的。彼得是科英布拉大学城的一名大学生，就在今天他毕业了，跟其他同学一样，他们要在这个夜晚那个时候互道珍重。
午后，彼得和一些朋友坐在大教堂楼梯的底部。他们要等到晚上，但是这个等待是值得的，因为他们离众人注目的焦点非常的近。为了打发时间他们讲讲笑话、故事、回忆回忆趣事。
时间慢慢地过去，夜晚降临了。那个地方人越来越多，这时可以看见到处是戴黑色斗篷的人经过狭窄的街道，更多的人像蒙德哥河水一样涌来。灯光照亮整个城市，但现在整个城市聚焦在那个位置，如此小的地方，但又如此之大。
最期待的时刻到了，彼得看到三个跟其他所有人穿着一样的年轻人，经过这片人海-他们就是当晚的焦点。谁住在大教堂周围的老房子里，就可以从阳台上观看到整个仪式-这是不能够错过的。
小夜曲开始了，跟着吉他手给的节奏和法多歌手唱出每种情感的变调，使听者心中火热，但在外面泪水却从脸上淌下-就是这些刚刚有些生活经历的男孩和女孩们。是什么旋律使人心中欢畅而泪水连连呢？这是学生们的国歌-科英布拉的法多。听着它，彼得被带到另一个层面，好像进入时光隧道-回忆起自己的大学时光，想起了同学之间的友谊，生活中的教训并且为了能够完成所有的学业而感到高兴，但在另一方面，悲伤却阵阵袭来要把他拽回现实，那个时代已经过去了，虽然是那么的独特，但再也不能重头来过了-永远被称之为记忆了。和他一样，所有的同学都边哭边唱，相互拥抱，最终形成了一股动情的大合唱。
夜晚即将结束，让位给新的一天-生活还要继续下去。
每年五月初，很多人像彼得一样到科英布拉大教堂听小夜曲-这个仪式重复了许多年，但仍然每年都举办。

LetusliveadayinPeter’slife,thisdaywillbe,neithermorenorlessthanoneofthemostimportantandmemorabledaysofyourlife.Despitetheimportanceoftheday,dressedinblack,justtheshirtiswhite;theoptionofthecostumeisnottheresponsibilityofhimself,buttraditiondemandsit.PeterisauniversitystudentinthecityofCoimbra,todayheendshisjourneyofacademiclife,assomanyofhiscolleagues.Hesaysgoodbyetothosedaystonight.
ItwasearlyafternoonwhenPeterandsomefriendsofhisdegreesatatthebottomofthestairsoftheCathedral.Theyhadtowaituntilnight,butthewaitingwasworthybecausetheywouldbetooclosetobethecenterofattention.Theyspentthetimetellingjokesandstoriesandrememberingthedayswhichwerenowalmostgone.
Timepassedbyandthenightcame,thatplacewasnowcrowdedanditwasnowpossibletoseeablackcloakwithpeopleoverflowingthenarrowstreets,asmanypeopleasthewaterMondegorivertakes.Thelightedlampsilluminatedtheentirecity,butnowthecityisabridgedtothatlocation,sosmall,butsogreat.
Themostawaitedmomentcameout,Peterseesthreeguysdressedlikealltheothers,swimmingthroughoutthatseaofpeople-theyareonspottonight.Thepeoplethatliveintheoldcottagesthatsurroundthecathedralcanseetheritualfromtheirbalconies–itissomethingyoucannotmiss.
TheSerenadebegins,guitarplayersstarttherhythmandthesingersingswithalltheemotionthatthemomentrequires,movingthepeople’sheartswithwarmthbutalsomakingthemcryouttearswithcoldness,whichrundownthefaceofmostlisteners-theyareboysandgirlswithmoreorlessthesameage.Whatisthismelodythatmakesyoufeeljoyandsadnessatthesametime?Itistheanthemofthestudents-thefadoofCoimbra.Listeningtoit,Peteristakentoanotherdimension,feelslevitating-recallshisuniversityyearsthatceasethere,remembersthefriendshemade,thelifelessonshehaslearnedandfeelshappytohavebeenabletofinishthedegreeofhisdreams,butontheotherhand,thesadnessseemedtocrushhimagainsttheground,sincethosetimesareover,andweresouniqueandwillneverbelivedagainorfelt-thosetimeswillbeimprisonedandwillbecalledmemories.Manyotherslikehimcametothesameconclusionastheysangcrying,huggingeachother,formingachorusofemotions.
