希望成为科学家的孩子

那个孩子总是想成为科学家。不管是他父母还是姐姐，甚至他的毛绒小熊多必丁都说不上来打什么时候开始他对以经验为根据的理性如此着迷。但实情是当大人们特别乐于反复提出“长大了你想干什么”这样既可笑又荒谬的问题时，这个孩子从很小的时候就总是用同样的方式回答。他挺起胸，嗓音低沉地答道，“我想当科学家”。亲爱的读者，想象一下大人的反应：几乎总给他一个满意的微笑，而非应付式的夸赞，告诉他会前途无量。到此打住了，没有一个男人也没有一个女人（全是真正的男人女人）费心问问对他真正重要的，而作为无所不知的叙述者的我，知道关键所在。
“可你，为什么想成为科学家？”
由于我缺少常识，那个孩子带着一丝怒气回答我：“就是要当科学家。为什么您被称作无所不知的叙述者呢？”
“你说得很有道理。正因为我是无所不知的叙述者，当然必须为读者解开这个疑问。而且，我觉得这必须是故事的题目。”
“当然了。现在这么做是正确的。”
您已看到那个孩子的妙想。他执迷于成为像维克多·弗兰肯斯坦一样的人，玛丽·雪莱小说中的一位疯癫的科学家。多疯狂啊！不过，从保护这个孩子的前提出发，要告诉尊贵的读者们，他的理由是值得称赞的。他说一个不容置疑的真相就隐藏在邪恶天才的所有面具后面：改变世界的权利。与这一点相比，其他的因素，或更好些或更坏些其重要性都次之。
最终，如同所有洞察力敏锐的读者想象到的，那个孩子从未成为科学家（在虚构作品中总是需要一个高潮）。有一个恶魔或类似的被称作“危机”的东西在西班牙肆虐，让他无法学习。他总认为那妖魔藏身在一个西班牙文名叫托雷洛巴敦的小小村落里，那里住着他的祖父母。那里为了城镇化而开始大兴土木，砍伐了所有的树木，而城镇化后来从未结束过。当时他费神地想看看恶魔是否逃窜出来好朝它扔石块，可什么都没等到。该死的家伙没有出现。
于是那个孩子长大了却没成熟起来。有什么东西让他不舒服，就像背上有处够不到的地方痒痒。痒啊，痒啊，痒啊，直到有一天把他痒醒了。他想起来自己本想成为科学家！但为时太晚。他有了一个绝妙的主意。他拿起一支笔和一张纸，挠挠头，借助文字的艺术他变成了无所不知的叙述者。他有能力创造生活，并憧憬着或许有一天有个孩子会读到他写的故事，变成那个长大了想当科学家的孩子。

TheBoythatwantedtobealwayswantedtobecomeascientist.NeitherhisparentsorhissisterorevenTobitin,histeddybear,couldtellwhenthatkindofobsessionforempiricrationalitybegan,butthefactisthateversincehewasverysmall,theBoythatwantedtobewouldalwaysanswerinthesamemannertothatabsurdandridiculousquestionthatadultsseemtoliketorepeatsomuch:‘Whatdoyouwanttobewhenyougrowup?’Hewouldalwaysanswerswellingwithprideandputtingonapompousvoice:‘Iwanttobeascientist’.Imagine,dearreader,thereactionoftheadult:practicallyalwaysasmileofsatisfaction,attimessomepetulantflatterytellinghimthathewouldgoveryfarinlife.
However,noneofthosemenandwomen(allofthemwellgrownup)botheredtoquestionhimonwhatwasreallyimportant,soI,intheroleofomniscientnarrator,havethisduty.
‘Hey,you!Whydoyouwanttobeascientist?’
TheBoythatwantedtobeanswersmewithadashofindignationduetomylackofknowledge.
‘Well,whatdoyouthink?AndyoucallyourselfKnowitallnarrator?’
‘Youareabsolutelyright,IamtheKnowitallnarratorandIshouldhaveclarifiedthatdoubtforthereaders.Besides,Ithinkitissoimportantthatitmustbethetitleofthisstory.’
‘Ofcourseitmust.Nowyouareactingproperly’.
SonowyoucanseetheoccurrencesthattheBoywhowantedtobehad.HisobsessionwastobelikeVictorFrankenstein,amadscientistwhoappearsinanovelbyMaryShelley.Howcrazy!However,onbehalfoftheBoythatwantedtobe,thedearreadersshouldbeinformedthathisreasonswerepraiseworthy.Heusedtosaythatbehindallthatevilgeniusmasqueradeanunquestionablerealitywashidden:thepowertochangetheworld.Afterwards,whetheritwasforbetterorforworsewasasecondarymatter.
Well,asanysagaciousreadermusthaveimagined,theBoythatwantedtobeneverbecameascientist(infictionaknotisamust).Therewasamonsterosomethingsimilarcalled"crisis"prowlingaroundSpainthatpreventedhimfromstudying.HehadalwaysthoughthatthatwildanimalwaslurkingintheforestofasmallvillageinCastillacalledTorrelobaton,wherehisgrandparentslived.Butwhenallthetreeswerefelledtobeginbuildingahugeresidentialareawhichwasneverfinished,hewasonthewatchtoseeifhecouldspotitrunningawaytothrowastoneatit,buthesawnothing.Thedamnedthingdidnotshowup.
Sothen,theBoythatwantedtobegrewupbutdidnotmature.Therewassomethingthatbotheredhim,asortofitchinanunreachablespotonhisback.Ititchedanditchedanditcheduntiltherecameadaywhenhewokeupandremembered;hewantedtobeascientist!Butitwasalreadytoolate.Thenhehadagreatidea.Hetookapenandasheetofpaper,hescratchedhimselfandbytheartofthewordhebecametheKnowitallnarrator.HemanagedtocreatelifeandhehadthehopethatsomedayaboywouldreadhisstoryandwouldbecometheBoywhowasascientist.

维克多·古铁雷斯·桑斯(VíctorGutiérrezSanz，1990年生于西班牙瓦亚多里)，获瓦亚多里大学传媒专业(2013)和文学理论及比较文学专业(2014)学士学位。2012年出版首部短篇小说集《影子与镜子的游戏》，该作品在Seleer出版社举办的第一届大赛中获奖。维克多不仅从事文学创作，还在大学任职并与地方性媒体合作。在所有承担过的工作中，创立推促人们阅读的广播节目《美丽的米拉娜》最令他感到自豪。
